Global Production
Global lead production has seen significant growth in recent years due to increased demand in various industries, including battery manufacturing, construction, and the production of paints and coatings. China, Australia, and the United States are among the largest lead producers in the world, with China alone accounting for more than half of the global lead production. This metal continues to play an important role in the global economy due to its unique properties, such as corrosion resistance and high recyclability.
Supply and Demand
In 2024, the global lead market is expected to face an increase in both supply and demand. Refined lead supply is predicted to rise by 1.4% to reach 13.46 million tons, while demand will grow by 1.9% to 13.42 million tons. This increase in demand is primarily driven by the needs of the battery manufacturing and automotive industries. However, lead production faces challenges due to environmental concerns and high energy supply costs, which could impact prices.
